Keynote Speaker 1

Prof. Nikola Kasabov (IEEE Fellow)

Professor Nikola Kasabov is a globally renowned researcher in artificial intelligence, neural networks, computational intelligence, and knowledge engineering. He is a Life Fellow of IEEE, Fellow of the Royal Society of New Zealand (FRSNZ), Fellow of the International Neural Network Society (INNS) College of Fellows, and Distinguished Visiting Fellow (DVF) of the Royal Academy of Engineering (UK). He is the Founding Director of the Knowledge Engineering and Discovery Research Institute (KEDRI) and Professor at the School of Engineering, Computing and Mathematical Sciences, Auckland University of Technology (AUT), New Zealand. He also serves as the George Moore Chair Professor of Data Analytics at the University of Ulster (UK), Honorary Professor at the University of Auckland and Teesside University (UK), and Visiting Professor at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.
Professor Kasabov has made outstanding contributions to the international computational intelligence community. He is a Past President of both the International Neural Network Society (INNS) and the Asia Pacific Neural Network Society (APNNS), and has served on numerous IEEE Computational Intelligence Society technical committees, including as an IEEE Distinguished Lecturer. He is the Editor of the Springer Handbook of Bio-/Neuroinformatics, Editor-in-Chief of the Springer Book Series on Bio- and Neuro-Systems, Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Springer journal Evolving Systems, and Associate Editor of several leading journals, including Neural Networks, IEEE Transactions, Information Sciences, and Applied Soft Computing.
He received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from the Technical University of Sofia, Bulgaria. His research focuses on neural networks, machine learning, intelligent information systems, computational intelligence, bioinformatics, neuroinformatics, and evolving intelligent systems. Throughout his distinguished career, Professor Kasabov has authored more than 680 scientific publications, including books, journal articles, book chapters, patents, and conference papers, which have been extensively cited worldwide. He has supervised more than 38 Ph.D. students and has held academic and research appointments at prestigious institutions across Europe, Asia, and Oceania, including the Technical University of Sofia, the University of Essex, the University of Otago, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, ETH Zurich, the University of Zurich, Robert Gordon University, and the University of Dalian.
His exceptional scientific achievements have been recognized through numerous international honors and awards, including the Doctor Honoris Causa from Obuda University (Hungary), the INNS Ada Lovelace Meritorious Service Award, the INNS Gabor Award, the APNNA Outstanding Achievements Award, the APNNA Excellent Service Award, the Royal Society of New Zealand Science and Technology Medal, the AUT Medal, the EU Marie Curie Fellowship, and the Bayer Science Innovation Award. He is also an Honorary Member of the Bulgarian, Greek, and Scottish Computer Science Societies.
Professor Kasabov continues to lead pioneering research at the intersection of artificial intelligence, brain-inspired computing, and data analytics, making significant contributions to both academia and industry through innovative methodologies, interdisciplinary collaborations, and the advancement of intelligent systems.

Prof. Jemal H. Abawajy

Prof. Jemal H. Abawajy is an internationally recognised researcher in the fields of parallel and distributed computing, cloud computing, big data, cybersecurity, network and system security, Internet of Things, distributed systems, resource management, decision support systems, and e-health.
Professor Abawajy has established an extensive research career spanning distributed and networked computing systems, with particular emphasis on developing secure, reliable, scalable and efficient computing infrastructures. His research has contributed to areas including cloud computing, big data analytics, cybersecurity, network security, IoT security, pervasive computing, distributed systems and healthcare information security.
He was awarded the Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) by Deakin University in 2016 in recognition of his outstanding research achievements. His research contributions have resulted in hundreds of refereed publications in international journals, conferences and book chapters, together with books and edited conference volumes.
Professor Abawajy is a Senior Member of the IEEE and has been actively involved in IEEE technical communities associated with scalable computing, dependable computing and fault tolerance, and communications. He has also served on the editorial boards of numerous international journals and has undertaken various editorial and guest-editing responsibilities.
Beyond his research achievements, Professor Abawajy has extensive international academic leadership experience. He has been involved in the organisation of more than 200 international conferences in various capacities, including Conference Chair, General Chair, General Co-Chair, Vice-Chair, Publication Chair, Best Paper Award Chair, Session Chair and Technical Program Committee Member.
Professor Abawajy is also an experienced international keynote and invited speaker, having delivered more than 50 keynote addresses and invited seminars worldwide. His presentations have addressed emerging developments in cloud computing, distributed systems, cybersecurity, big data, resource management and other areas of advanced computing.
He has supervised and mentored numerous PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, research assistants and visiting scholars, contributing significantly to the development of the next generation of researchers in information technology and computing.
With his extensive research achievements, international scholarly leadership, professional service, conference experience and keynote-speaking record, Professor Jemal H. MLKD 2027 has received several keynote speaker nominations. The Organizing Committee will carefully evaluate the nominees and select two to four keynote speakers based on their academic excellence, international reputation, and relevance to the conference themes.

MLKD 2027 welcomes distinguished researchers, academics, and industry leaders who have made significant contributions in Machine Learning, Knowledge Discovery, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, and related fields. Keynote speakers are expected to demonstrate excellence in several of the following areas:

  • Outstanding research excellence with a strong publication record in Scopus/Web of Science-indexed journals.
  • International recognition through keynote/invited talks, editorial positions, or leadership in the research community.
  • Significant scientific or industrial impact with influential research and collaborations.
  • Affiliation with a reputable institution and contribution to the diversity of the conference.
  • Excellent presentation skills with the ability to deliver inspiring and forward-looking keynote lectures.

Selection Process

Keynote speakers are selected by the MLKD Program Committee based on their scientific achievements, international standing, relevance to the conference themes, and contribution to a balanced and diverse keynote program.
